HOUSESITTING-TIME: ALGARVE

Finding a housesitting in Europe was more difficult for us than in New Zealand ... but as always, whoever follows it gets it and at the beginning of June we were already carrying our backpacks in our car with a new destination: Algarve.

A few days before we did a Skype with Tom, the owner of the house we wanted to take care of, well, the house and two puppies the sea of majos: Rocky Y Pegs. The first impression was good so after a dozen minutes chatting he told us what we wanted to hear: we were going to be his housesitters! The house we take care of is located in Algoz, a small town of the Agarve about 15 km from Albufeira. Southern Portugal was one of our dream destinations for this summer so yes, we were lucky 🙂

After crossing toooda Andalusia from east to west and entering Portugal, we arrived at Algoz, where Tom, Ismay, Rocky and Pegs were waiting for us. Surely it happened to everyone once when you have to meet a pet for the first time (That of your new partner, that of your colleague, that of a family member ... the one you have to take care of in the coming weeks!), that first contact with them is like a blind date: will they bark at us? Will we like them? Will we make good crumbs? In our case, the blind date with the two hairballs that we would take care of was great: Rocky and Pegs are two very different dogs but very, very nice and affectionate.

With the owners there was also a good feeling, so we relaxed quickly! Of course, as soon as we arrived at the kitchen we realized that we were not going to take care of only dogs ... and there was a cage with two singing canaries (Come on, Tom forgot about them, so much that we think they don't even have a name).

The House It was very cool, surrounded by fields of oranges, with a very nice garden with orchards full of cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, lemons and beans - which we gave a good account during our stay - and plenty of space for dogs. But the best was behind the house: a swimming pool great where to spend the afternoons: olé!

ROCKY

Hi, I'm Rocky, I'm 14 years old and have a great passion: sleep. I love being lying too late in the afternoon, yes, there must be someone around me because I'm afraid to be alone.

I love sleeping more than eating (I don't understand why they keep giving me croquettes with chicken and sausage when I just want to sleep, and at the most I relax the plate of my housesitters), I said… I love sleeping, but only until 6 in the morning, when I go straight to wake Rober and Lety to do what I like the second most in the world: the morning walk! Buah, how I enjoy it! And if these two do not want to get up I approach his nose and made all the breath in his face ... usually works.

As soon as the list of Pegs realizes that we are all awake, he climbs into the bed of my housesitters and begins to receive pampering and massage. Tss, I find it a little more complicated to climb, I am older and weigh a lot more, but without ration of pampering I am not going to stay and wing: with a little jump I get on the bed and crush everything I catch.

After the walk we have a brushing session, another thing that I enjoy a lot, is like going to a SPA, relaxing, relaxing. Although the best SPA service is the one that Pegs does to me every afternoon when he comes and sucks my ear, what a treat!

I only leave home when my housesitters go out with me, with Pegs I just don't go ... he is very crazy and puts you in fights when you least expect it. Also, where I am better is in the living room, with the TV in the background, lying on my mattress and with Rober and Lety that give me little mimics. Although I am very shy and I find it hard to be confident at first, I am the best puppy in the world and once I start loving you I will do it forever!

PEGS

Hi, I am Pegs and although my housesitters say that I look like a girl, I am quite a macho, to reaffirm it every time I can take out the pichilla. Still these backpacking, sometimes, they keep talking to me in feminine, you have to fuck. I am 12 years old but my spirit is of a kid. If my brother Rocky loves to sleep, I love going to explore the garden in search of rats. When I can I catch them and leave them for my caregivers' picks to pick them up (I laugh while seeing their disgusted faces, jiji), although sometimes they bite my lip, but nothing serious, I don't worry. Luckily, when he passed my housesitters, they took care of me a lot ... There is always something positive!

The worst thing is to stay alone, when Rober and Lety leave I start crying, I try to bark like older dogs but it doesn't come out ... then I cry. But these have the heart of a stone and leave the same. At least they leave us some delicious croquettes before leaving. Ohhh the food, mmm, I really like this. Best of all, Rocky eats a little, so if I'm lucky and nobody sees me, I can eat double servings of chicken, that's delicious!

Sometimes I throw peditos and as soon as Lety realizes I laugh. It makes him sick but I get cuddly and he goes crazy with love. Then I take a little whistle and it makes him sick again. This girl is very tiquismiquis. Rober did not get the whistle, I play to bite his hand when he pampers me, we are both there growling like two thugs, we had a good time. How cool housesitting!

One day, at 6 in the morning, I began to bark like crazy, and there was a lovely owl in the garden. Lety went down to see what was going on, she was a little cushioned because she was afraid it was a thief or an alien, but as soon as she saw the owl she was stoned ... she said it was super nice. I think it was good more than pretty ... but since he didn't let me out, I was left wanting to eat it. He was bigger than me but the dimensions don't count. Or so they say.

Uhhh I just saw a rat, I'm coming for her, bye-bye.

We are going to miss them very much and it is that, after taking care of beings so good and with so much love inside, you can only love them as if they were an important part of your life. See you later friends!
