It will be that all the streets lead to Rome that we end up there many times. Either thanks to the legendary 1 cent Ryanair tickets (what times!), A romantic getaway or thanks (¿) to work. So the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time you visit the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and all the things to do in Rome. But of course, the 4th and 5th time make you want to know something different ... until you wake up every day with Brad Pitt you have to get tired (seriously?) Or eat pizza every night in the end tired (I do not think so). And that's how we met one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city and today we're going to tell you everything what to see and do in Trastevere

If you want more information, visit our ROME TRAVEL GUIDE

But What is it? Why do I have to go? What will I see and what can I do in Trastevere? You have to visit it because it is a genuine, authentic and beloved neighborhood for the Romans (and you know the good taste they have!).

The Trastevere is located on the other side of the Tevere River and, although historically it has been a poor and almost forgotten neighborhood, today it is gaining strength and fame thanks to its charm: in it you can walk through narrow and winding narrow streets, where if you look towards the sky you will come across that famous image of the clothes hanging on the balconies, pass in front of medieval churches, browse through shops of artisans and antiques, taste the delights of Roman cuisine in one of its trattorie, rest with a slush in your hand in the square Santa Maria in Trastevere or simply lose track of time watching how the Romans gesture, speak and walk.

More things to see and do in Trastevere:

  1. Do not miss an ice cream in Fior di luna, one of its richest ice cream parlors.
  2. Have a coffee at the San Calisto Bar
  3. Climb the Gianicolo hill and freak out with the views
  4. Try one of the delights of Roman street food: I gave them in “I Supplì”. By the way, if you love to know the local cuisine we recommend you sign up for this super fun food tour (and where you will eat suuuper well).
  5. Visit Piazza Trilussa
  6. Stroll through some of its most beautiful streets, such as Vicolo del Cinque, Via della Scala, Vicolo del Moro or Vicolo del Bologna.
  7. See the Plaza de Sant'Egidio, where is the Museo di Roma in Trastevere.
  8. Take a picture at the Ponte Sisto.
  9. Have dinner at Cencio la parolaccia
  10. Continue exploring the capital of Italy. Here we tell you everything to see and do in Rome

And do not miss the neighborhood at night: there is a lot of atmosphere in both restaurants and pubs, as we like the Roman move!

USEFUL INFORMATION TRASTEVERE

You can get to Trastevere in bus (line 23, 280, 780), in trolley car (Trastevere / Mastai stop, line 8) or on foot: the best way is to cross the beautiful Ponte Sisto. The subway does not reach this neighborhood. Once arrived, the best means of transportation to know the neighborhood is the most ecological and cheap: your feet! Come on, don't be lazy, you'll also have to lower the calories you've taken with pizza, pasta, tiramisu and ice cream, right ?!

The Trastevere is an ideal place to look for accommodation: it is 2 steps from the center of Rome and the atmosphere of the neighborhood at night is super attractive. But if you think it will cost you a kidney, do not worry because the good, beautiful and cheap options when it comes to finding a hotel are not lacking and you will not end up camping under the Sisto Bridge! You can look for accommodation options in the Trastevere here.

One tip: avoid tourist menus. Maybe you just have one dish. Some first Phenomenal dishes are:

  • spaghetti alla carbonara or cacio e pepe,
  • bucatini all'amatriciana
  • gnocchi alla romana
  • penne all'arrabbiata ...

All very light and almost without carbohydrates, well maybe a tad hehe! The seconds They are also delicious, our favorites are:

  • the abbacchio al forno,
  • the saltimbocca alla romana
  • or a good panino with the porchetta!

And finally nothing better than a ice cream or tiramisu. Mamma, my hunger has entered me!

We hope this post with things what to see and do in Trastevere It has been helpful!
