Another year that begins, and to follow the tradition (well, we have only been doing it for a year XD), we are going to propose what they are, for us, the 12 best destinations for 2020. There are options for all tastes (pockets and time availability) since we have divided the trips into 4 groups:

Getaways (2-3 days)
Trips (1 week)
Travel (3 weeks)
Super trips (1 month)

Perfect for a weekend, a bridge, or any time of the year where you can scratch a few days ...

Budapest

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, there is no doubt about this. But, in addition to being beautiful, it offers plans for any type of traveler: you can start the day touring the tourist places of the center, continue relaxing in one of its many spas, eat a warm goulash and end up celebrating in a ruin pub . What more can you ask?

Cotswold

If you like roadtrip, you better go to the next destination. But if you are one of those looking for any excuse to get on the road, the Cotswold are an excellent option (although you will have to drive on the left). The idea of going through small villages full of charm and green landscapes in the English countryside, sounds fabulous. Tetbury, Bibury or Bourton on the Water are just some of the essential stops, but there is much more. We will have to go, right?

Milan and Cinque Terre

It is a getaway we did last year and we believe it is the best travel of a few days. Milan does not have the tourist fame of other Italian cities, but it is a very complete destination and a vibrant city (besides having one of the most wonderful cathedrals in the world). From there, reaching the Cinque Terre is as recommended as it is easy. Spending at least one day exploring these 5 small villages perched on the coast of the Ligurian Sea is an experience. Of course, try to avoid the summer months, because they are full of people. We went at the end of February and we were almost alone 😉

Do you want to divide your vacation into several short trips? Can you get a free week and you want to know other places not too far? These are good alternatives:

Apulia (Puglia)

We are not leaving Italy without including this region, which is to the south, in the heel of that hypothetical boot. At the moment it is a mystery for us, but in 2020 we are sure that it does not escape us! Apulia is synonymous with sea, culture and good cuisine. The best plan is to rent a stroller and take a roadtrip with stops at Polignano Mare, Bari, Alberobello, Lecce and many beautiful beaches. Extra: leaving Puglia to visit the beautiful city of Matera is a highly recommended extra 🙂

Russia

Considering that Russia is the largest country in the world, including it in the list of one-week trips seems crazy. But is not. The trick is simple: focus on your two most famous cities: Moscow and St. Petersburg. Adjusting to the plan, the ideal would be to spend 4 days in the capital and 3 days in the city of the Hermitage. Is it enough time? To see the essential, yes. And get ready: both are cities full of surprises (although we are # teamMoscow).

Uzbekistan

It is the heart of the Silk Road, home to legendary places like Samarkand, Bukhara or Jiva. Thousands of caravans passed through here on their way to and from the farthest and most wonderful East, full of exotic products to trade with. Nowadays, there is nothing left of the camels and the merchants but the memory ... what did remain intact in time was the charm of a magical place full of history. Or that is what all those who were there say ... We are already dreaming of making this trip for this 2020 ... although almost certainly, we would be more than 7 days :-p

By 2020 you are determined to make a special trip, meet new cultures and experience a full-fledged journey. Is that so? Come on, here we go with our 3-week travel options:

Route through the Balkans

We always say it: the Balkans are the other Europe. The one that tastes like Burek, the one that sounds like the call of the muezzin from the minarets of the mosques, the one that rises to the sky with the huge domes of the orthodox temples, the one that maintains the sobriety of its Soviet past. 3 weeks are not enough to know the ins and outs of this special area, but to get a first idea and end up falling in love with a land, both so close and so strange. The route options are practically endless, here is an example of our 3-week itinerary through the Balkans, and here our favorite places in the Balkans. Just a warning: it's a trip that hooks!

Colombia

They say that today, the greatest danger in Colombia is to want to stay forever. That probably won't happen to you (or does it?), But it is clear that 3 weeks they will know you very well, and you will want to extend the trip a little more. Colombia has spectacular corners like the Coffee Axis, turquoise water islands like San Andres, cities full of history like Cartagena and others with a lot of life, such as Medellín. And the more you read about the country, the more you realize that Colombia has lots of things to do. So, friend, you will have to select (or stay XD).

South Korea

From the neon and bustle of Seoul, to the roads surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Jeju Island, from the port and the colorful houses of Busan to the Hwasong Fortress, from the markets that smell like kimchi to the music concerts K-Pop Korea is in fashion and we are ready to let ourselves be enchanted by it: in March we go there, and we promise to tell you toooodo, everything, all about this small and mysterious country.

These proposals are for those who do not have a time limit and can afford to travel for a long period. They can also be shortened and included in the previous group of 3 weeks, although the ideal would be to travel these places without too much stress, taking it easy and enjoying the slow travel.

South Africa

We have this destination in mind since we lived the epic journey that our friends Claudia and Jairo marked and, hopefully 2020 is the year we finally stepped on South Africa. We already have a list of things to do: approach Boulder Beach to spy on its most famous inhabitants, a penguin colony * _ *, climb Table Mountain to have Cape Town under our feet, visit Robben Island and learn more on the Apartheid, rent a car and tour the Coast, freak out the views of the Blyde River Canyon and, of course, explore the Kruger Park to try to fulfill the dream of seeing the big five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant ). Really ... we really want to know South Africa!

Canada

The one in Canada was one of our super trips of 2019 and we can't do anything but recommend it. We spent 10 days exploring the main cities of the East Coast (Toronto + Niagara Falls, Montreal and Quebec City), and from there we flew to Vancouver to embark on a 15-day roadtrip through the Rocky Mountains. We attended ice hockey games, we ate poutine (almost) without stopping, we ran into bears (muuuchos), we saw lakes of impossible colors, mountains full of snow, wild nature and towers from where you can see XD. Come on, Canada is a great trip with all the letters 🙂

Southeast Asia route: never fails 😉

If you have a lot of time, you want to travel to an exotic and budget destination, you are somewhat fair, Southeast Asia is YOUR place. The plans are endless, it will depend only on what you are looking to build a perfect itinerary. Do you like the beach? Go to Fiipinas Do you feel like adventures? Indonesia is perfect. Do you want to discover an authentic corner? Travel through Myanmar. And if you are one of those who "want to see everything in 1 month" there is good and bad news. The bad thing is that you will NOT be able to do it, sorry. The good news is that you will have the option of visiting lots of special places. Here we tell you our top10 of Southeast Asia.
