If when you travel you love to explore the local cuisine. We are sure that one of the things that you most want to do in Marrakech is to try a delicious cous cous or a delicious tagine (or both, of course!). If you are looking for recommendations from Restaurants where to eat in Marrakech well and cheap, here we are going to give you 10 great options. Bon Appetite!

Clarification: You can eat really cheaply in Marrakech, but in the center of the medina, which is the most tourist place in the city, it calculates about € 5-8 per person. Although of course you can find cheaper alternatives (for example, we found a place with delicious sandwiches of fish meatballs for 10D, € 1 ...).

We discovered this restaurant thanks to a reader but unfortunately it was closed until mid-September. We include it because we have been told that you eat VERY well, but it is also a cooperative that offers work to disadvantaged women. They have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and in order to go you have to book here. The trouble is that it is somewhat away from the peeeeero center, maybe you can take advantage of the day you visit the Majorelle Gardens to get closer.

It is a good place to try one of the star dishes from Morocco: the tagine. There are several types: chicken and lemon, chicken and plum, sardines, keftas (meatballs) with eggs ... The prices are good (6-8 €) and the views from the terrace of the place are VERY beautiful, especially to see the Koutoubia! Come on ... Highly recommended.

It is one of the places we liked the most, and not only because the cuisine is frankly delicious, but because its Terrazita is so pretty and if you travel with calorazo as you will like it even more: it has refreshing water jets! The staff is super friendlyThey speak good English and can advise you. We tried chicken skewers with ginger and coriander sauce (delicious) and a lemon chicken tagine with olives (very tasty too). Prices: 6-8 € per plate.

Another great option to eat cheaply in Marrakech, especially if you feel like trying a dish of fried fish, something not so usual in the city. It is a very small place managed by a very nice owner who always goes with his sailor hat hehe.

It is one of the restaurants with best value for money of the whole city and it is so “quoted” that the two times we went through it was full and we were left without trying it 😛 If you are luckier than we know that there is a 95D menu (€ 9 approx) which includes starter (we read that the pill is very rich), a main course (chicken cous cous and vegetables, chicken tagine with olives and lemon, eggplant with gratin meat or chicken skewer) and dessert.

After seeing that in the Cantine des Gazelles it was very crowded, we took refuge here, since it is very close and we liked it a lot. We tried a veal tagine with almonds and plums (one of the best of the trip) and cous cous with chicken and vegetables (normal). We were invited to mint tea and some cookies. In addition we were attended by a very nice young waiter! We were going to eat at the terrace but it was very hot (it sure is better at night!). By the way, it has several vegetarian dishes.

It is the fashion site of Marrakech, thanks to its hipster touches and his photogenic rooftop. We discovered it via Instagram and the truth is that it is very good, although if you travel with a low cost budget it is clear that there are cheaper options (calculate about € 15/18 if you want to eat there). If it is full a good alternative is the Café Des Épices, which is a few steps from the Nomad.

And from one of the most hipster places in all of Morocco to a super simple place, where you will find many places eating and the occasional tourist, all of them to swell with lamb. We will let you know ... if you are something delicate, do not go, but if you are looking for an authentic experience: it is your place. As you will have understood the main character here is the lamb, they prepare it roast, seasoned with salt and pepper, in some ovens buried for several days.

Strolling through Jamaa el Fna Square, the large number of people who came here to eat caught our attention, so the next day we decided to go too and ... great! The food is homemaderich and cheap... for 5/7 € you eat very well. Do not expect a sophisticated place: it is a normal and current place, we would not highlight the quality of the food or the ambient but, if you are looking for a good and cheap place ... it complies perfectly. In addition the views of Jamaa el Fna Square from the terrace They are beautiful! Recommended the lamb tagine with prunes and caramelized onions and the harira soup.

More than coming here to eat, we recommend climb to your roof a little while before sunset and have a mint tea (or two) ... And it is that watching the sunset from this privileged corner of the Jamaa el Fna Square is one of the best things to see and do in Marrakech. If it is full, go up to the terrace of the Aqua Restaurant, cool too!

Here the opinions are completely divided: there are those who say that the street stalls in the Plaza are one of the best places to eat in Marrakech and who swears that the food felt fatal and that they deceived them. They are really like ones makeshift restaurants They ride in a kind of tents in the center of the square. We finally DON'T stay for dinner there, since the atmosphere was very overwhelming and we prefer to climb some terraces (which are also similar prices).

By the way: haggle! We were offered free drinks and a reduction in food (but we just had dinner). If you go, we will love to hear your opinion!
