Before starting we would like to make a small comment (to save criticism): this list is not going to please everyone. Surely we have left out some other city that, for you, deserves a place in this classification. But for tastes the colors and this ranking of the 10 most beautiful cities in Spain It is our business (if yours is not there and you see us on the street, please do not throw us a shoe).

Behind this there is a magnificent news: Spain is full of wonderful cities that could perfectly enter the most beautiful in the world, so it is very difficult to choose only a handful of them.

That said, let's unveil you what are our 10 favorite spanish cities (they don't have to go in order)

We have spent 5 years of our lives in Barcelona and we have a special affection. But, objectively, Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities not only in Spain, but in Europe too, so it would have to be it that opened our list.

What city has such a lively and cosmopolitan cultural scene? Which has sea, mountains near, rich rich cuisine and wonderful people? And such a strong personality? We simply love Barcelona! So much that we always dream of returning one day and continuing with our Catalan life.

What to say about Granada? It is one of those cities that dazzles you from the first moment and it has us hooked. In fact, we ended up in Barcelona on issues of destiny, but Granada was the place chosen to move in a few years ago. Even so, whenever we can we make an escape to our favorite Andalusian city.

See The Alhambra from the San Nicolás viewpoint, spend hours in its bars drinking beers and eating tapas, strolling through the Realejo, wandering through the Albaicín until reaching the Sacromonte ... We like everything about Granada!

The first visit we made together to Salamanca did not start well. The fault was a sharp curb (and Rober's exquisite ability to park) where we burst the tire. But it was not enough to spoil the idea we have of this beautiful Castilian city.

Its Plaza Mayor, the Roman Bridge, the Cathedral where with a little view you can find even an astronaut ... Salamanca has a lot of things to offer the traveler, but the best thing is undoubtedly its student atmosphere. It is one of the university capitals of Spain and during the school year students (both Spanish and Erasmus) populate the city, making it one of the most interesting young destinations in Spain. And is that who knows Salamanca knows that it will happen pipe!

While many say that San Sebastián is the jewel of northern Spain, we are more than Santander. It's been a few years since we last walked its streets, and we wouldn't mind returning in 2019 ...

Go back to enjoy Sardinero beach, see the Magdalena Palace, marvel at the bay and climb the Funicular del Río de la Pila. There are only 4 of the things to do in Santander, but this Cantabrian city hides many more surprises. And what about Cantabria? It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful communities in the whole country. We owe him a roadtrip, who knows if 2019 will take us around 😉

Surrounded by the Tagus and famous for having hosted, over the centuries, three cultures (Jewish, Christian and Muslim), Toledo is one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in Spain. It is also a stone's throw from Madrid, so it becomes a perfect excursion for those who visit the capital of Spain.

Wandering through its cobbled streets is like going back in time. If you are one of those travelers who slowly savor every corner of a city, Toledo is your ideal destination.

There is a risk that the first time you travel to Madrid is not precisely love at first sight. In fact it has happened to us. The trick is to give it a second chance because it is a place you get used to quickly. And it is that Madrid has everything (or almost everything, that beach) and if, as we love the urban city busy city, you will end up falling in love.

Eat a squid sandwich in the Plaza Mayor, go rowing in Malasaña or Lavapiés, walk through the Retiro, watch the sunset at the Debod temple or end the night in a theater, these are plans that you can hardly refuse.

That Seville has a special color is already known, but it is that this Andalusian city is a real delight for the eyes: look where you look is beautiful to rage and overflows personality.

Our favorite corner is the Plaza de España, although the Triana neighborhood usually enchants everyone who visits it. And what about the Royal Alcazares? And of the Cathedral with its Giralda? And the sunsets on the banks of the Guadalquivir? A pasote! ... There is only one site that generates controversy between travelers and locals: Las Setas, a curious viewpoint that surfs on the rooftops of the city. We are among those in favor. And you?

Yes, as you can see we are very fans of Andalusia, it is our second homeland and that throws us away, what are we going to do. Although this does not influence at all to put Cordoba in our list of the most beautiful cities in Spain.

Its world-famous Mosque is one of the most extraordinary buildings we have ever seen. In addition, the Roman Bridge, La Judería and, of course, its salmorejo (oh my god, that rich salmorejo of Cordoba!) Are more reasons to organize a trip to this Andalusian destination, one of the ones we like most in all of Spain.

Bilbao? How Bilbao ?! Yes, we already know that the traveling heart of many does not usually win, but Bilbao flips us! It will be the ambience of its old town, it will be that near the city there are wonderful getaways, it will be its pintxos or the well-defined character of both its inhabitants, and its streets. Bilbao is one of those places where we would return again and again. Sorry San Sebastían 😛

I still remember the huge botafumeiro swinging back and forth in the Cathedral of Santiago. He would be 15 years old at the time, and he was on a field trip with a summer camp. You can see that this image struck me, because a few years later I returned in a weekend getaway. And I see that I continued to like the city because now I am planning a new visit, more special if possible, to finish the Camino de Santiago.

This millenary city has one of the largest monumental heritage in all of Spain, you can imagine that touring its old town is a joy. But it is more so if you can find a good restaurant and put on your boots with some of the specialties of Galicia, for many, the region where you eat best in the world!

They obviously fall outside this list of the most beautiful cities in Spain Extraordinary places like Valencia, Mérida, Ávila, Málaga, Girona, Palma, Gijón, Zamora, Zaragoza ... We already anticipate it, don't you? There are so many beautiful cities in Spain that, whatever you choose, there are always too many out.
