Day 4: BRISTOL

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Today we started the day well, the alarm went off as usual and after almost going down to breakfast, to tour Bristol, we realized that last night, day of the time change, we had changed it manually on the phones , but we do not think that the change would also be made automatically !!
So in the end it turns out that it is 7 in the morning and not 8 as we thought.
We do a little time checking mail and some things that we will do today and we decided to go down to breakfast and so we will go calmer.
Yesterday at Stonehenge and Salisbury was the most complete and although today we already know that Bristol board It does not offer the same as the other cities we have visited, we intend to make the most of the day.

Around 9 in the morning, we leave the Hilton Gardenn, to set off for one of the best known areas of Bristol board, its Cathedral and the port area.
A good option to know the history of the city is to book this free tour with a guide in Spanish by Bristol Free! or this free graffiti tour.

Bristol city center road

Bristol board It is a city and unitary authority of England and one of the two administrative centers in the southwest of England. Since its inception, its prosperity has been linked to the port of Bristol board, the commercial port that gave rise to the city center.

Arriving at the port of the city of Bristol

As the morning progresses it seems that the day is going lively and although it is still quite cold, some sunbeams begin to accompany us on our way.

Once we are at the port, we see that it is still very early and as we have all day, we prefer to go to the Cathedral, which is a little less than 5 minutes and thus make a small “kit kat” on the tour this morning .

Cathedral of the city ofBristol board

Upon arrival we see that they are doing a mass, so we consider that it is not the time to visit it, so after a walk around the surroundings, we return to the port area.
It's almost 11 in the morning and the streets begin to feel more lively, although we thought that because it was Holy Week we would find ourselves with more atmosphere.

Walking through the port of the city ofBristol board

When we have been walking for a long time, we see that it is almost 12 in the morning and we have the idea of going to the Cathedral before arriving at the Suspended Bridge, so we turn around and go back down the path made, although in one of the areas pass through the aquarium, to change the views a bit.

We get back to the Cathedral and it seems that we are accompanied by a little more sun, which makes us warm and take a short walk around to finish warming.

Surroundings of the Cathedral of the city ofBristol board

We entered the Cathedral and found a central plant very similar to the one we saw yesterday in Salisbury. But what really catches our attention is the “Cafetería y Baños” sign that we found in one of the corners of the Cathedral.
We follow them and we find a cafeteria in the middle of a cemetery ...

Cemetery in Bristol Cathedral

It is the most surrealistic thing we have ever seen, a cafeteria at the foot of a cemetery and also, they also call it “Cathedral garden”, finding banks in the middle of the cemetery, where we can rest.

After this visit, we leave the Cathedral wanting more and seeing that there is still time for lunch, we go to Queen Square, where we return to take advantage of those sun rays that appear timidly from time to time.

From here, we surround Brandon Hill, to reach the Suspended Bridge through the other part of the city.
Most of the stores are closed and there is little atmosphere in the streets, so the route is very quiet.

It takes just over 40 minutes to reach the river area again and we follow it again for another 15-20 minutes.
The walk through this area is much more enjoyable than the Brandon Hill area, so we slow down and admire this area of Bristol board.

Bristol Harbor Area

Every little time we sit down, just to observe how people walk along the riverbank, like any other Sunday.
We have to say that, as seen so far, it has been the most important thing in Bristol board, we consider that dedicating a day to this city is perhaps too much.
We, if we had known beforehand, perhaps we would have looked for another nearby place to spend an afternoon ...

Bristol Suspended Bridge Road

We continue following the river, until we see that we reach an area where most people turn around and disappear, but we, seeing that we have not yet been able to see the Bridge and continuing to be stubborn, continue walking for another 15 minutes, until we reach the height where we see it perfectly.
Finally the Suspended Bridge of Bristol board!!

Once seen and considering that it is almost 2 in the afternoon, we set off to go around, where we accelerated a bit, to reach the Port area and find somewhere to eat.

Once we arrive at the Restaurants area of the Port, we see that everyone is full of people and looking at the cards there are none that “fill” us at all, so we continue walking and without realizing it, we are almost next to our hotel !! And it's almost 3 in the afternoon!
We decided to go to Don Giovanni, but when we get to the door it is closed, so without another option and discarding back to the port area, we have no choice but to enter a cafeteria near Temple Meads, where we ask for a couple of Sandwiches, more soda and water a bag of potatoes and 2 cupcakes.

Fast food in Bristol

We have free wifi, so after having a coffee and seeing that it is just after 4 in the afternoon, we think that since we are on vacation, why not, we deserve a break !! So we go to the Hilton Gardenn for a while to rest and take a mini-nap, to go out again around 7 pm to go for a walk around the harbor and have dinner.
We walk around the Port and we are very surprised that despite the cold weather, all the girls go in suspenders and sandals.
Besides, everything at noon was restaurants, now they have been transformed into pubs and at the door they have 3 security controlling the ages and giving you the entrance ...
We are in this area of Bristol board until we start to get hungry and go to 4500 Miles Of Delhi, an Indian restaurant, which we have seen before and has given us a good impression.
We have not eaten Indian cuisine since our trip to India last year, so the time has come to taste it again!
We put on our boots, although we have to be honest and say that although we like it very much, spicy destroys us !!

After having a full stomach, we go for a walk in the center, where the atmosphere already looks much more festive and before 11 at night we are back to the Hilton Gardenn, to spend what will be our last night in Bristol board.
This is over.
