Our trip to Budapest in 4 days for free took us to see places such as Váci Utca Street, the Central Market, The House of Terror, the Danube, Andrássy Street through the Opera House, the Liberty Bridge, the Gellért Spa, St. Stephen's Basilica, the Parliament, the Danube Shoes monument in memory of the victims of the Jewish Holocaust, the Chain Bridge, the Fisherman's Bastion in Buda, the Great Synagogue and the Jewish quarter, the New York Café, Nyugati Train Station, Gerbeaud Pastry Shop, Buda Hill, the famous Heroes' Square, Városliget Park with Vajdahunyad Castle to end at the premiere of Anyegin at the Opera House, where we could enjoy an amazing night at our last Day in the city.

The best time to travel to Hungary is in spring or autumn, less touristy times and with a very pleasant and mild climate, in which you can take advantage of the day perfectly due to daylight hours. One of the obligatory stops in the city would be to enjoy some of its Spas, such as Gellert, one of the best known and most famous where you can relax after a hard day touring the city.

In the case of our trip to Budapest in 4 days we did not have time to enjoy, but it would be a perfect option to enjoy in the evening or a winter afternoon in which the hours of light are reduced.

In case you can not travel in these seasons, do not worry, this city always has a friendly face to show, whatever the weather is like.

    Hi,

As always I love your travel guides. I am waiting for the Berlin update as I will go in December.

In December I turn 30 and I would like to get away to some city in Europe, do you recommend Budapest? He had also thought about going to Belgium. Which one do you recommend?

    Thank you

      Hello Montse,
First of all, thank you very much for reading!
About Budapest, we do not know it in December, but from what we have been able to see and read, it is a wonder for Christmas markets.
Belgium, if you make a trip to Brussels, Bruges and Ghent, for example, would also be a great option.

      Hi Belinda,
In principle, with a couple of full days, you can see the most tourist places in the city. We leave you a guide that we publish so you can see what places to visit having those days //www.viajeroscallejeros.com/budapest-en-dos-dias/
In case you want to add another day, you can extend the visits a bit //www.viajeroscallejeros.com/budapest-en-3-dias/

        Hi Vane and Roger!

I was organizing a trip to Budapest and looking for information I found your blog, among others. From the beginning I found the most useful for the proposed itineraries and the detailed information. Now that I have returned from the trip and that I have followed your advice almost to the letter (I had 4 and a half days so I allowed some variations of order), I have to congratulate you on how well organized and structured your planning is. I keep the copy of your blog for future trips, so I see you are some crack. Congratulations!

        Hello Rachel,
Now we delete the day 3 3
We buy tickets directly through their website.
For the change of currency, we always advise to pay everything by credit card, to have the change of the moment and get cash directly at the cashier.
Of course, always consulting with your bank what fees apply per operation. If it is not much, it should do so to also have the best change.

      Good morning Beatriz,
The purchase or not of this type of passes depends largely on the places you want to visit in the city, since in relation to that it can be more or less interesting to buy it.
We advise you to look at the official page where you can see the places it includes and see if these are the ones you are going to visit to see if you are interested or not to buy it.
On the list of places to eat, we are sorry we can't help you since we don't have any. In this same guide, on each of the days, you have the places we went to and our opinions about it.
      Regards!

A pity that you have not been able to enjoy any of the many spas that are in the city, they are worth it, especially after having kicked the city for more than a day. A tip if I would like to contribute: both the Gellert and the Széchenyi are the best known spas and the ones that receive the most tourists, but if you want to get away from the “tourists”, get closer to those who usually use the inhabitants of Budapest themselves, such as for example the Kiraly, the Lukacs or the Rudas. They are cheaper and will give you the same service as the two celebrities.

I have read in a magazine that to go to the opera the boys have to go with an American and tie. Is that so?

      Hi Dianap,
The truth is that it has nothing to do with one idea with the other, so we, based on the dates and times, perhaps we would prefer more to make a trip to Budapest.
In Marrakech at that time it is probably very hot and making a trip to the surroundings is not as comfortable as Budapest. Regards!

        Hi:

        Thanks for your answer.

It is true, and we know that Marrakech and Budapest or Vienna are totally different cities.

Our initial decision was Marrakech but the issue of such high temperatures and the coincidence with Ramadan has made us doubt. That's why we think of Budapest or Vienna that we don't know.

However, my son insists that he wants to go to Marrakech and Merzouga. We are analyzing whether we can withstand the heat taking into account that our country has a tropical climate and also has high temperatures all year round.

We will tell you later what our decision was.

        Thank you!!!!!

What a great trip! How curious the problem with the taxi driver you comment ... I went a couple of weeks ago with my roommates, but for personal reasons I arrived later and took only a taxi to the apartment we rented. I had no problem with the taxi driver. In fact it was very nice and let me pay with euros, florins and even with a card (reasonable price too). I was so short that he only gave me the opportunity to see the part you mentioned in part 2 (what a shame!) And to try some hot springs (the Széchenyi, how wonderful). When they were going to be very fair, they recommended us, not to get lost in the city and understand and see everything, a company called White Umbrella. They organize a free tour from the same Parliament and with that you can already see part of the most important part of the city (and well explained). They also have paid tours by Buda and Pest, but we were not lucky enough to try them. I think that another essential attraction that you haven't commented on is the "ruin bars". Awesome and hilarious.
    Greetings!

      Hello Jose!!
Telling that the trip you want to do in January and it's 5 days, we would opt for Marrakech, more than anything for the time and days, with which you can make an escape to Essaouira, another lovely city that is very worthwhile.
Of course, choose the one you choose from 3 you will not regret it !!

I already have the tickets, and I am preparing the trip to Marrakech. I was also looking at the option of doing a 3-day tour to Merzouga, to the dunes, but at this time the roads are flooded, so you have to see how everything evolves.
If it is not possible, I will approach Essaouira or Fez.

Hi Luis Vicente! We have not made that journey by train but we believe that the best option, for times, since it takes about 2 and a half hours to reach Vienna, for about 40 euros or so. And to move between Vienna and Bratislava, also train. The journey time is between an hour and an hour and a half, depending on the arrival station and the price of the ticket is about 12 euros.
