Day 10: VIENNA: Belvedere Palace, El Prater, Hundertwasserhaus

Friday, July 2, 2010

Today we decided to relax a little. We have left at 8.30 from Hotel Capricorn to make a Vienna day trip starting at Belvedere Palace.
We have taken the subway and left us in the lower part of the palace, so we had to walk a little until we got there.

Vienna Belvedere Palace

Once inside, We have taken the ticket to just see the museum, where is the famous painting "The Kiss". The entrance to the palace is included in the Vienna Pass or you can book the entrance here in advance.
We have been walking around the gardens for a long time, before entering the museum.

Once there we have been touring the Vienna Belvedere Palace, admiring the works of art.
We have been until 11 or so and we have decided that it was best to go directly to the second visit of our Vienna day trip, The Vienna Prater, the oldest amusement park in the world.
We have gone in search of the nearest metro station (that is close to say, because it is 20 minutes walk from Belvedere Palace).
Once in The Vienna Prater, the feeling is different, it seems that we have changed cities.

The Vienna Prater

A small theme park, in the middle of Vienna!

We have stopped at a cafeteria for a drink, before seeing anything and it has given us time to eat. We have gone to an Italian nearby and there we have swollen for a very reasonable price.
The truth is that in full sun, we had little desire to walk, so we decided that it is best to go directly to the ferris wheel and spend the time of digestion there.
It is advisable to reserve the ticket in advance to avoid the lines that form in the ferris wheel.

The Vienna Prater

The complete tour of the ferris wheel does not take us more than 20 minutes (10 euros per person), so after this, we take a tour of the area and we go in search of the last visit of our Vienna day trip: Hundertwasserhaus, residential complex of Vienna built with a very original appearance.

Vienna Hundertwasserhaus

It took us a long time to find them and the atmosphere there is very relaxed. The truth is that the area invites you to stop and have a drink there.

But the truth is that I was quite "touched" and needed to rest for a while, so after walking for a while, we go in search of the subway, to return to the hotel.
We rested for a while and at 7 o'clock we went for a walk and dinner.

In the end we ended up on a terrace of an ice cream shop, eating a good glass of ice cream and some delicious crêpes.
With this, we return to our room to rest for a while. Tomorrow plays a good early morning and back home. Without a doubt, the worst day of the holidays is when you realize that the last day has arrived.
