How to get to Salamanca from Madrid by train

The fastest way to get to Salamanca is to get on the high-speed train ALVIA that leaves from Chamartín Station and leaves you, via Segovia, at the Salamanca train station in an hour and a half for about 25 euros.
If you are not staying near Chamartín Station, you can easily get there by subway with line 1, which crosses the entire center, or line 10.
Another faster alternative to get to Chamartín is to take the C3 and C4 commuter train lines that leave from the Puerta del Sol and Atocha station, and have very few stops between both points.
The ALVIA trains begin to leave the Chamartín Station, direction Salamanca, from 8: 55h and have a frequency of about 3 hours being the last high-speed train back to Madrid at 20: 40h.
A good option to secure the place, especially on holidays and weekends, is to book tickets in advance on this page.
There are other train lines that leave from Chamartín and the Principe Pío station that take more than 3 hours to reach Salamanca and although they are cheaper, if you have only one day, we believe that for the price difference it is not worth it.
The Salamanca train station is about 15 minutes walk from the old town or 5 minutes with the urban bus lines 1 and 11, which cost one euro each way.

Bus from Madrid to Salamanca

Another slightly cheaper way to get to Salamanca from Madrid is to take a bus of the Avanza company that leaves from the Méndez Alvaro South Bus Station.
To get to this bus station you have to take the metro line 6 or circular, which connects with line 1 at the Pacific stop.
Once at the South Station you must get on one of the buses that leave every hour and leave you at the Salamanca Bus Station in about two and a half hours for 22 euros. There are other cheaper lines that cost 15 euros and take another hour to complete the journey.
Upon arriving at Salamanca station you can walk to the center in less than 15 minutes or take line 4 of the city bus.
