Train from Florence to Venice

The fastest way to go from Florence to Venice It is taking a high-speed train at the Florence Santa Maria Novella Station that will leave you in about two hours at the Santa Lucia Station in Venice.
These fast trains operated by Italo and Trenitalia (Frecciargento and Frecciarosa) depart approximately every half hour and are priced around 30 euros, depending on the anticipation with which you buy the tickets. You can check the schedules and make the reservation from this page.
Keep in mind that the Santa María Novella station is a 10-minute walk from Piazza del Duomo, the heart of the old town of Florence and if you only have one day we recommend you take a train at 7: 15h and that of Return at 9:30 p.m., which will give you time to see the main tourist attractions of the city of canals.

Before buying the ticket, check that the destination station is Santa Lucia and not Venice Mestre, since the latter is outside the island of Venice and you will lose more time.
Once at the station of Santa Lucia you can take a vaporetto at the Ferrovia stop, which will take you to the Plaza de San Marcos crossing the entire Grand Canal in about 30 minutes.

The price of the vaporetto is 7.50 euros, so it can be profitable to buy this 24-hour ticket for 20 euros if you are going to make several routes in this popular Venetian means of transport.

How to get to Venice from Florence by bus

The bus is the cheapest means of transport for go from Florence to Venice, having prices ranging between 10 and 30 euros. These buses leave from Piazzale Montelungo station, located a few meters from Santa María Novella and leave you in about 4 hours at Tronchetto station, which has a vaporetto stop in front.
