This international airport, located 30 kilometers northeast of the city, is the second busiest in the country behind Frankfurt. The airport, one of the most modern in Europe, has two terminals that connect through the Munich Airport Center area and also has good communication with the city center by public (bus and train) and private transport.

How to get from the Airport to Munich by train

The most common and fastest way to go from Munich Airport to downtown is to take the train lines S-Bahn S1 and S8.
The S1 line (blue color) will take you in 45 minutes to the Central Station (München Hauptbahnhof) and in 50 minutes to Marienplatz square, located in the city center and one of the essential places to visit in Munich.
The S8 line (yellow color) will take you in about 40 minutes to the Central Station and to the Marienplatz square.
These two lines leave every 10 minutes between 04h and 01h and are priced at 11.60 euros per ticket, although you can buy a one-day ticket for 13 euros that lasts until 06h the next day. There are also discounts for groups.
To get to the train departure terminal, located inside the airport, you just have to follow the signs and there you will also find the automatic ticket machines.


Bus from Munich Airport to downtown

The cheapest way to get from Munich Airport to the city center It is to take the Lufthansa Airport Bus that costs 11 euros or 18, if you buy round trip.
This bus leaves from the two terminals every 15 minutes from 6: 30h to 22h and takes about 45 minutes to reach the Central Station, stopping at Munich Nord.

Marienplatz

Private transfer

The Private transfer is the most comfortable way to get to Munich from the Airport.
When booking this service here a driver will be waiting for you at the exit of the terminal by raising a sign with your name and will take you directly to the door of your hotel in about 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
The price of a 3-seater vehicle is 81 euros, 6 leaves for 93 euros and an 8-seater minibus for 117 euros.

The price of a taxi from Munich Airport to the center is about 60 euros.

Once you have clear the transfer, we recommend you book in advance a hotel located in the old town, between the Central Station and Marienplatz.
